About Eric
Raised in Utah, I studied to be a social worker/therapist, but after graduation, I ended up joining the Actor’s Union and have spent the last 20 years performing all over the world as a professional actor/ performer. I have also worked as a special education teacher, missionary, choreographer, and substitute teacher.
I also love sports, anything Olympics related, and between my extensive dance background and athletic pursuits, I have a strong vocabulary for movement. I currently live in Cottonwood Heights, Utah with my husband. I continue to work as a professional actor and singer.
I am a professional vocal and performance coach of 15 years experience, working out of my home, online, and in studio. I specialize in building strength and stamina, performance coaching, and artistic development.
My workout philosophies have come from my own aging, injury, and need for a practice that uses traditional strength and resistance training principles as well as novel mental approaches to challenging my body and spirit. I am a creative soul.
Having navigated addiction and depression, poorly sometimes, I offer a deep compassion for life stressors that can impact one’s physical and mental well-being. I began developing the language and techniques I will be teaching when in 2018 I turned 46 and found my joints suffering after years of hard use, a newer, deeper depression developing , and a realization that I needed a greater practice to make it through the next 40 years of my life. I wanted to explore some new space in my thinking, and overcome the boredom I felt with traditional resistance training. Less sets and reps, and more active engagement with what I needed emotionally and psychologically as well as physically.
There are so many ways to develop a body’s capabilities. I see that creativity can be a layer applied over nearly any physical movement, to keep one engaged longer in training.
I trained through the ACE program for personal training, but in addition to current training techniques, I will be beta testing a lot of new language(concrete and abstract), storytelling, and exploration. I am so excited to develop it further with my clients.
Teaching good exercise technique and providing motivation is just a start in body/mind transformation. Singing as well. Good technique won’t keep you stimulated and excited for decades of developing and using your instruments. Using creative tools while you work your muscles becomes a larger practice that can encompass physical, mental and spiritual growth. Clients develop their creativity and ability to be novel.
